Terms and conditions

Terms for using Borehole Drilling UK, its company listings and directory enquiry services.

About these terms

These terms explain the use of Borehole Drilling UK, operated by The Borehole Drilling Directory. They cover browsing the directory and submitting directory enquiries, suggestions or corrections. Our privacy notice explains the use of personal information.

These terms do not set the conditions for drilling work or other services supplied by a listed company. Any separate advertising or commercial arrangement with the directory must have its own agreed terms.

The directory service

The website helps visitors discover companies offering borehole-related services. Browsing does not require a visitor account or payment to the directory. We are not a drilling contractor, surveyor, technical adviser or booking agent, and we do not act for a company simply because it appears here.

We may update pages, add or remove listings, or change features as the directory develops. Availability can be affected by maintenance, technical faults and third-party services. If search or maps are unavailable, the company directory provides another way to browse published profiles.

Listing information

Business details can change. Confirm contact details, services, coverage, prices and availability with the company before relying on them. Missing information means it is unknown to the directory, rather than confirmation that a service is unavailable.

Publication is not a certificate of competence, insurance, accreditation or regulatory approval. A description, image, service tag or location association does not guarantee that a company is suitable for a particular job. A page update date does not establish that every fact on that page was independently checked on that date.

Maps and distances are approximate. They do not establish boundaries, land ownership, driving routes or whether a contractor can access or work at a particular site. Report an apparent error using the instructions on the contact page.

Working with contractors

You choose whether to contact or appoint a listed company. Any quotation, contract, payment, guarantee and aftercare arrangement is between you and that company. The directory does not receive a booking or accept a job on the contractor's behalf.

Before agreeing to work, obtain a written scope and quotation, check relevant experience and insurance, and establish responsibility for site assessment, permissions, testing and reinstatement. Discuss how changes in depth, ground conditions or project scope will affect costs and timescales.

General website content cannot establish whether a borehole is feasible at your property, what yield or water quality it might achieve, or which requirements apply to your project. Obtain site-specific advice. External websites and the services they offer are managed by their own operators and have their own terms.

Paid promotional placements, where displayed, are labelled as sponsored. Payment may affect prominence in those placements. It does not amount to our approval of a company's work, establish suitability or guarantee a result. Apply the same checks to all contractors you consider.

Acceptable use and content

You may browse the website, follow company links and keep reasonable extracts for your own project research. Rights in company names, photographs, logos and other contributed material remain with their respective owners. Wider copying or republication may require permission from the relevant rights holder; statutory exceptions still apply.

Do not misuse forms, submit spam or knowingly misleading information, impersonate another person or business, attempt unauthorised access, or interfere with the site's availability. Do not collect personal details from the directory for unsolicited marketing. Automated activity must not bypass security controls or impose an unreasonable load on the service.

Information you submit

Submit information you believe is accurate and are entitled to share. Do not include confidential customer records, payment details or personal information that is unnecessary for the request. Explain your connection to a business when acting on its behalf.

When you supply material for a listing, you permit us to review, edit for clarity and publish that material for the directory purpose you requested. This does not transfer ownership of your work. Private enquiry contact details are handled as explained in the privacy notice, rather than automatically added to a public listing.

We may seek supporting evidence, decline a suggestion or remove content that appears inaccurate, irrelevant, unlawful or outside the directory's scope. Submission does not guarantee publication, placement or a particular response time.

Responsibility and your rights

Our role is to provide directory information. We do not promise a contractor's performance or a particular drilling outcome, and we are not a party to your contract with a listed company. These statements explain the scope of the service; they do not remove any responsibility we have under applicable law for our own actions.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer and data protection rights are unaffected.

If you have a concern about this website, identify the relevant page and explain the problem through the contact page. A dispute about a contractor's work should be raised with the contractor. Nothing here prevents you from seeking independent advice, contacting a relevant authority or using the courts available to you under applicable law.

Changes and contact

We may revise these terms to reflect changes to the website or applicable requirements. The date above identifies this version. A revision does not retrospectively change a separate agreement you have already made with us or with a contractor.
